Bedford Loan Officer Retires After 26-Year Tenure at Farm Credit

Farm Credit of the Virginias (FCV), a regional lending cooperative that serves Virginia, West Virginia and western Maryland, announced that Bedford branch Loan Officer, Manuela “Manny” Schabel, will retire September 30, 2023 after 26 years with the Association.

During her long tenure with Farm Credit, Schabel has held a variety of positions, from loan processor to special assets officer to loan officer. She has worked at several branches, including Warrenton, Culpeper and Roanoke, but has served customer-owners as a loan officer at the Bedford branch since 2019. Schabel feels that her experience in different positions and locations gave her a well-rounded background in operations and lending that enabled her to support agriculture and our rural communities and serve borrowers most effectively. She loved having the opportunity to work alongside many great co-workers during her time with the Association. Reflecting on what she will miss most from her time at Farm Credit, Schabel shared, “I will miss helping customer-owners achieve their dreams of owning property in a rural community.”

Regional Sales & Lending Manager, Joey Cornwell, shared, “It is very sad to see Manny leave Farm Credit after 26 years, but the moments we have all shared and the memories we made will always be remembered and cherished. On behalf of everyone at Farm Credit, we wish Manny all the best in her retirement.”

Upon retirement, Schabel looks forward to traveling more and spending time with family and friends.
